Pet supplements

Nutritional supplements for your pet can lead to better health and resistance to various diseases. A routine made specifically for your pet may mean the difference between him or her flourishing and simply “getting by”.

Vitamins and supplements are highly recommended in dogs with joint pain (as a result of arthritis). However, among veterinarians, some think that vitamins and supplements are necessary and can improve the health of a dog. Others feel as if they do more harm to an animal than good.

Please note, over doses of vitamins CAN be harmful for any pet. For example, too much calcium can cause problems with their bones, especially in large bred dogs. Vitamins A and D excess also causes toxicity in dogs.

Good quality supplements should contain at least 8 essential vitamins. They include:

  • Vitamin A
  • Vitamin B
  • B-Complex
  • Vitamin D
  • Vitamin E

Many Options

You will have many options when it comes to making your own dog foods, and if you are creative enough you could actually have a wide array of recipes to add to a book. You will be able to get a great number of wonderful recipes off of resources such as the Internet. There are many dog food companies that try to maximize their profits by thinning out the quality ingredients that they use. This does not do anything for the health of your animal, and you will often find that the dog will use the bathroom far more when eating their foods. When you make your own dog foods, you do not have to give up the good ingredients to save money. You can use the best ingredients that you can find, and actually split much of what you buy between the dog food and the foods that you feed the rest of the family.

Cook And Freeze

What is truly great about making your own dog foods is that you can actually cook and then freeze much of what you make. This will allow you to not only make a great deal of food to store; you will be able to add variety in the dog’s life. This is because you will be making various foods and then freezing them. You will offer the dog the opportunity to experience what it is like to eat different foods on a regular basis, and this is far better than the everyday twice a day kibble routine.
